It's been a helluva year for Superman fans. With the Man of Steel celebrating his 80th anniversary, we've seen the blowout 1000th issue of Action Comics, superstar creator Brian Michael Bendis join DC as writer of both the monthly Action and Superman titles, and the 40th anniversary of the first and still greatest superhero movie of all time -- director Richard Donner's masterpiece Superman: The Movie. (watch it here). The film arrived on 4K Ultra HD this week and will return to theaters for three nights on November 25th and 27th, and December 3rd. The screenings will be hosted by Fathom Events, and we've just learned that Fathom has something else for Superman fans to cheer about: double-feature theatrical screenings of both The Death of Superman animated movie and its sequel, the upcoming Reign of the Supermen!
Comicbook.com broke the news today that both animated films, adapting the top-selling Superman storyline of all time, will play back to back, just like both parts of the animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns did a few years back. The new double feature will occur on January 13th and 14th; with Reign of the Supermen (pictured above) making its world premiere before it arrives on Digital on January 15 and (buy tickets here) on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack on January 29th.
